  • Participation of people in planning,implementation & post-project maintenance
  • Involvement of NGOs for social mobilization & capacity building of community organizations
  • Adopting User Group/Area Group approach for land owning farmers
  • Cost sharing by the community to enhance ownership & respect towards people’s choices
  • Use of agriculture & water resource action plans developed through remote sensing to complement people’s plan
  • Involvement of various resource agencies such as Universities of Agriculture, Horticulture,Veterinary and Fisheries, Income Generating Activities (IGA) expert agencies, International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), etc., for provision of specialized training inputs
  • Concurrent process monitoring & impact evaluations of watershed programmes by external agencies
  • Effective accountability & transparency by adopting appropriate financial management systems at all levels
  • Adopting Environment & Social impact Assessment (ESA)
  • Involvement of PRIs (Panchayat Raj Institutions)
  • Site specific scientific advisories
